There is a growing network of biosphere reserves, national parks and other protected around the world that partner with communities to conserve important food genetic resources, improve food security and nutrition, encourage sustainable farming practices and preserve historically important agricultural landscapes. Therefore; participants are encouraged to contribute to this movement by sharing their experience in the following areas:
> Encouraging sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices, conserving priority agricultural resources, strengthening food security, food education and public health.
> Complimenting biodiversity objectives with knowledge and access to nutritious and predominantly locally grown food, recognizing the communities and practices that sustain the ecological integrity, robustness, and ecosystem services of the living landscape.
> Demonstrating leadership in conservation and sustainability practices.
