Next GWS conference heads to New Orleans

The next George Wright Society Conference on Parks, Protected Areas, and Cultural Sites will take place March 14–18, 2011, at the Sheraton New Orleans, right on the edge of the French Quarter.

GWS2011 returns to the city where this series of conferences began in 1976. It was in the Crescent City that the first Conference on Science in the National Parks convened during the nation's Bicentennial year.  This meeting, and a second in 1979, were the precursors to the first GWS conference in 1982.  GWS2011 will be the 16th in this series of conferences, which have blossomed into the USA's premier interdisciplinary professional meeting on parks.

A Conference Committee will be formed by the GWS Board this fall and planning for GWS2011 will begin immediately thereafter.  A Call for Proposals will be issued in June 2010.  If you attended GWS2009 in Portland, you'll get the CFP automatically.  If you didn't, but would like to be notified when the CFP comes out, just send us a note.  Plan to join us in New Orleans!
