USNPS report on power line traversing Delaware Water Gap NRA out for review

he National Park Service's public "scoping" report for the proposed Susquehanna to Roseland, N.J., transmission line right of way across the national park, Delaware River and Appalachian Trail is available for review.

This report, part of the federal environmental impact statement process, summarizes public comments submitted early this year. The report can be viewed through a link at Select "Appalachian NST" or "Delaware Water Gap NRA".

When the environmental impact statement is completed, it will provide a decision-making framework for analyzing a proposal by PPL Electric Utilities Corporation and PSE&G for construction and right of way permits from the NPS in connection with the proposed 500,000 kilovolt transmission line.

As proposed, the transmission line would cross three units of the National Park System in Pennsylvania and New Jersey — the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Middle Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River, and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.
