Fishing guide group says Everglades NP officials willing to reconsider fee hikes after private meetings

EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK — After two private meetings in as many weeks, the Florida Keys Fishing Guides Association board of directors feels that Everglades National Park’s top management may be willing to reconsider some of the new fees set to go into effect in 2018 under the park’s commercial use authorization program and entrance fee structure.

This dialogue comes on the heels of a contentious public meeting held by the park earlier this month in Key Largo that saw a large group of Upper Keys fishing guides voice their objections to the proposed changes, which include higher fees for guides and new paid passes for their customers who fish inside the park’s boundaries in Florida Bay.
