Is triage the new normal? Denali NP&Pres to allow last miles of entrance road to deteriorate because of anticipated lack of funds

FAIRBANKS — The National Park Service plans to focus repair money on the first miles of the Denali Park Road while allowing some deterioration at the end of the road in the face of anticipated funding shortages. 

The Park Service published its 20-year strategy for park transportation on Thursday. The 124-page Long Range Transportation Plan is not a specific budget for park road projects, but it outlines a general approach for how the park will address increased crowds at the park and challenges from climate change such as increased mudslides.
