Peru: World Bank grants US$8.9M for national PA program
ima, Aug. 17 (ANDINA). The World Bank has made a US$8.9 million donation for the execution of the “National Protected Areas Program” as part of an agreement signed by Peruvian Environment Minister Antonio Brack.
The signing ceremony was attended by Luis Alfaro, head of the National Service of Protected Natural Areas (Sernanp); Felipe Jaramillo, WB Regional Director for Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela; and Alberto Paniagua, Executive Director of Profonanpe.
“I thank the efforts made by the World Bank, KWF, Profonanpe and Senarp for the Protected Natural Areas to continue offering its services and, thus, the Peruvian State can preserve its resources and natural habitats for the benefit of all citizens in the planet,” stated Brack.
