Judge pares back number of HSs affected by Hawaii light rail project

A U.S. District Court of Hawaii judge has ruled that Oahu’s rail-transit project will impact fewer than 10 recreational and historic sites, not the more than 40 locations cited by plaintiffs in a lawsuit.

The ruling filed Thursday by Judge A. Wallace Tashima addressed a lawsuit filed by former Gov. Ben Cayetano, University of Hawaii law professor Randy Roth, former judge Walter Heen, Cliff Slater and other parties against the City and County of Honolulu, the Federal Transit Administration  and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
