Space history sites latest to benefit from laser 3-D scanning technology

CAPE CANAVERAL – At Launch Complex 14, beams prop up the rusted remains of the launch stand and ramp where John Glenn blasted off in 1962, becoming the "free world's" first man in orbit, as a sign there says.

Worn concrete slabs and twisted metal suggest a ruin at the site, part of a National Historic Landmark district. Weeds and wild flowers bloom in cracks at the seaside pad.
