Man charged in burl poaching incidents at Redwood NP&SP; additional charge expected

Law enforcement agents in California have arrested a man in connection with cutting burls off the trunks of redwood trees in Redwood National and State Parks.

National Park Service and California State Parks law enforcement park rangers and investigators brought a year-long investigation to an end with the arrest of Danny E. Garcia, of Orick, California, on charges of felony grand theft, vandalism, and receiving stolen property for the poaching of old-growth redwood burls from the park. Charges are pending against another individual who is currently serving time for unassociated charges, a release from the Park Service said.
