Biography: Brad Barr received a B.S. from the University of Maine and M.S. from the University of Massachusetts, and is completing his Ph.D. at the University of Alaska. He has worked at the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management, managed NOAA's Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, and is currently a Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Director of the US National Marine Sanctuary Program. In addition to being on the GWS Board, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Science and Management of Protected Areas Association, and the Coastal Zone Canada Association, and is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas. He has published extensively on marine protected areas science and management, recently focusing on the issue of ocean wilderness.
